Raymond Reed Graham, 86, of Des Moines, WA, was finally reunited with the love of his life on August 27, 2023. His beloved wife of 32 years, Jeanette Graham, died in 2021, and Ray spent the last two years talking about how much he missed her and was looking forward to seeing her in heaven. He passed away three days before his 87th birthday after a hard-fought battle with cancer.
Ray was born on August 30, 1936, in San Bernardino, California, where he grew up with 4 sisters and 7 brothers.
A proud veteran, Ray honorably served in the US Army until 1957. After the military, he embarked on a career in the agricultural industry before finding his true passion at Boeing, relocating to the State of Washington in 1972. With dedication and perseverance, he earned a degree as an ultrasound technician. He contributed 25 years of invaluable service to the aerospace industry before retiring as a Quality Inspector with a reputation for unwavering commitment to excellence.
Beyond his professional pursuits, Ray enjoyed pursuing his beloved hobbies. A hunter and fisherman, he discovered solace and memorable experiences in the great outdoors. Anyone who knows Ray knows he was a fervent fan of the University of Washington Huskies, the Seattle Seahawks, and the Seattle Mariners. As a devoted season ticket holder, he attended games faithfully, including several highly coveted Rose Bowl games. When they were not cheering on their teams, he and Jeanette enjoyed their retirement years by exploring the country and Mexico in their RV.
Ray is was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanette; parents, Elisa and Woody Graham; and step-granddaughter Chelsea (Howe). He is survived by his children Sheila and husband Tyler (Seick); Roger; and Teresa (Graham-Mendoza); his step-children John (Howe) and partner Paula (Larson); and Thomas (Howe); and his siblings Vernon, Clayton, Linda (Scott), and Ann (Page). He also leaves behind six granddaughters, two grandsons, and ten great-grandchildren.
Throughout his life, Ray exemplified qualities of self-discipline and love for others. He will forever be remembered as a devoted husband, a loving father, and a cherished friend. His uncompromising values, unwavering strength, and gentle sense of humor enriched the lives of those around him.
A small service and reception in remembrance of the life of Raymond Reed Graham will be held on Sunday, September 3, at 11am at Judson Park in the 4th floor Solarium. Friends, family, and acquaintances are invited to gather and share memories of Ray's life.
Raymond Reed Graham will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His humor, strength, and love for his family will be remembered fondly. May he rest in peace.
