Norman Terrell Davis, 56, of Steilacoom, passed away on November 13 shortly after being diagnosed with cancer. Norman was born August 28, 1968, in Tacoma. As a child, he lived in North Carolina and Florida before his family returned to Tacoma. He graduated from Lincoln High School in Tacoma in 1987. He attended both Clover Park Technical College (Telecommunications) and Pierce College, where he developed his writing skills and began work on novels, short stories, and poetry. He was preparing to publish his first novel “Fly Game” at the time of his death. It will be published at a later date.
Norman worked in health care for many years, the last 20 at Western State Hospital in Lakewood. He was a Mental Health Technician and, most recently worked for the hospital’s transition team, helping patients return to their communities after treatment. He loved his job, coworkers, and caring for patients with mental health issues. His compassion, kindness, and generosity will be remembered by all who had the good fortune to call Norman a friend.
Norm's other passion was competitive and collaborative gaming. His love of gaming runs from DnD, Axis and Allies, Dominate Species, and online MMOs such as Rift and EverQuest. When
by himself and not writing, Norm loved the Civilization series, always playing on hard mode.
Norman is survived by his brothers, Michael Newbury of Lacey and Mitchell Newbury of Colville; his sister, Sharon Mason of Cylinder, IA; his father, John Davis of Jefferson, MO., nieces/nephews and great nephew/nieces. His mother, Charlene Davis, preceded him in death in November 2009.
A memorial is scheduled for December 13, 2024, at Western State Hospital from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm.
