Michael Starr Varney

Michael Starr Varney passed away unexpectedly on April 25, 2022 at Evergreen Hospital in Kirkland, Washington.

Michael was born in Westfir, Oregon on September 14, 1941, son of the late Katherine E. (Starr) and George C. Varney.  He was predeceased by his sister Colleen and brother Patrick.

Michael's partner/husband of thirty-four years, Hollis Lee (Chuck) Baker, predeceased Michael in 2004.

A resident of the greater Puget Sound area, he most recently lived in Redmond, Washington. Mike graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in History from St. Martin’s University in 1963. He held various positions in his thirty-year career with the Employment Security Department including job placement representative and tax auditor.   

Michael was an avid reader and history buff with a remarkable recall of historical facts. Never boring and always memorable, he had a wicked sense of humor and loved opera, classical music, and politics.

A private graveside service will be held at the Lakeview Cemetery in Seattle. We will miss you Michael.
