Marvin (Sr) Sims

July 14, 1946 ~ March 17, 2022 (age 75)


Marvin Sims Sr. was born on July 14th, 1946 in Kansas City, Missouri to Norman Wesley Sims Sr and Beatrice Sims. He was the third oldest in a family of five children.

Marvin was an entrepreneur. He owned his own cleaning service until 2009, when he retired.

Marvin was married to Phyllis Addico on May 19, 1990. Several years later Marvin and Phyllis moved to Arlington, Washington to be close to her children Eugene and James Tetteh.

Marvin was baptized in 1975 as one of Jehovah’s Witness.  He loved the field ministry, pioneering and auxiliary pioneering. He made a lot of friends throughout the years, and he treasure each one of them.  He studied with many who later were baptized.  Marvin had a very strong faith in Jehovah’s promises including the hope of the resurrection. Through his many battles with his health, this hope gave him the strength to get through it. 

Marvin had many interests including, fishing, golfing, listening to jazz, and dancing.

Marvin was always known a snappy dresser; he had a love of Stetson hats. He was also known by his beautiful smile and warm heart.

Marvin peacefully went to sleep on March 17th, 2022, at 4:02 pm, holding his daughter, Tiffany’s hand and listening to Kingdom songs.

Marvin was preceded in death by his mother Beatrice Sims and father Norman Sims Sr, his sister Norma Jean Battee and his daughter Angela Sims.

Marvin is survived by brother Ernest Sims of Kansas City, Missouri; brother Clarence Sims of Kansas City, Missouri; sister Julia Walters of Kansas City, Missouri.  Marvin is also survived by 5 children. Two daughters, Sheri Sims of Phoenix, Arizona; Tiffany Parker (husband Sharod Parker) of Burnsville Minnesota; and 3 sons, Thomas Sims of Burnsville, Minnesota; Timothy Sims of West St. Paul, Minnesota; Marvin Sims Jr of Brooklyn Park, Minnesota.  Also survived by 21 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
