Our beloved Jawaharlal J. Phelon, 35, affectionately known as “Ji” departed this earthly life on Tuesday, December 6, 2022, in Lacey, Washington. Ji was born on March 6, 1987, in Olympia, Washington. He was loved by everyone with whom he came in contact and would help anyone in need, a testament to his short life on earth. As a young man of faith, Ji wished to have a celebration of immortality promised to all by Christ. Therefore, we celebrate him for his caring nature for others.
Ji is survived by his mother, Jacqueline Phelon of San Diego, California; brother Michael Rucker of Cincinnati, Ohio; Joseph V. Flora of Evansville, Indiana; and Jasmine (Albert) Guardado, U.S. Navy of Aurora, Colorado; and his niece Kylie Guardado. He was the nephew of Dr. Mary Rucker of Cincinnati, Ohio, with whom he loved to study the Bible on a weekly basis; Reva Henderson of San Diego, California; Yvette Phelon-Wilkinson of Bolingbrook, Illinois; Tanya Mayberry of Georgetown, Texas; and Kimberly Phelon of Houston, Texas, as well as numerous relatives and friends. In particular, he was very close friends with Ricky Williams and Rita Edwards of Lacey, Washington, two good friends he loved.
