James Davis Obituary

It is with profound sorrow and immense love that we announce the passing of James Ardis Davis, 73, on September 18, 2025, at UWMC in Seattle, WA. Born January 30, 1952, in Alliance, Ohio, to Verna Dorthy Davis and James Ardis.  James lived his adult life defined by love, laughter, and loyalty.  He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, nephew, and friend whose presence left a lasting mark on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

With his generous spirit, quick wit, and unmistakable sense of humor, he built connections that turned neighbors into friends and friends into family. He will be remembered for his deep love for his family, his loyalty to his “sorry-ass” Cleveland Browns, and his joy in celebrating Christmas—his favorite time of year.

James worked for Federal Express for 25 years before retiring in 2010, leaving behind not only a respected career but also countless friendships formed along the way.

James is survived by his steadfast wife of 46 years, Jennifer Jane Davis, and their four children: three extraordinary daughters — Tye J. Jenkins (Son in Law - Donald K. Jenkins), Kari F. Davis, and Kelsey E. King (Son in Law  - Brandon King) — and their charismatic son, Zachery R. Davis (Daughter in law - Emily Davis). He was the proud grandfather of five remarkable grandchildren — Kingston James King, Jaxon Charles King, Kia Ayra Jenkins, Booker James Davis, and Irie Aurora Davis, with one more blessing soon to arrive.

James also leaves behind his maternal siblings: Tracy (Alexander) Huston (Brother in Law - Greg Huston), Jeanetta (Easley) Thomas (Brother in Law - Al Thomas), and Joseph Easley. His beloved Aunt Angie and Uncle Lenny Brady, his amazing step-father, Louis Oliver Alexander, Aunt Evelyn Thomas, and a host of cousins, many of whom affectionately knew him as Uncle Buck. His memory will live on in their hearts and stories for years to come.

A celebration of James’s life will be held later this year. He will be laid to rest at Graceland Memorial Gardens in Milford, Ohio.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor James by doing something kind for yourself and your loved ones. Remember that life is fragile and precious. Love and protect the children. When memories are all that remain, let them be abundant and filled with joy.

Rest in peace, James Ardis Davis. Your laughter, wisdom, and love will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
