Our family is as diverse as Eddie L. Washington, my dad, was in life. A normal obituary just won't due, so our family has taken the collaborative approach.
Wilma Jones was dad's first wife and she had this to say about the father of her two boys;
"Eddie and I met in Northern Susanville California 1976 blessed to have two sons Edward DeLee Washington and Eddie Deon Washington and I was very amazed when Eddie decided to name our sons I said either one with Lee and the next can have your first name. Over all he was well loved and respected by our family and friends over the years. Mr. Eddie Lee Washington you will be very much missed and we all appreciate all that you done. You will always be remembered, we love you:".
My dad's mom Lottie the matriarch of her family and sister Frankie L. Jackson, shared the following,
"To Our Son and Big Brother Eddie Lee Washington from your Mother and Stepfather Lottie and Jimmie Grixgby. Brothers Jimmy, Roy, and John Washington, Sisters, Anna Washington Stewart, Ruby Washington Patton, and Frankie Washington Jackson (Husband Eric SR.). Favorite Niece LaTonya Washington Cordova(Husband David) We are so THANKFUL that we were all together with YOU Eddie on your last road trip to MOMS House we had lots of fun and laughter with You Big Brother Eddie. It was sad to find out you were sick at that time and DIDN’T KNOW IT! However, YOU have now received your WINGS to enter into a better place. We Love You! We will All Miss You So Much! Big Brother Eddie Lee Washington
FAMILY!
May you see God’s Light on the path ahead
When the road you walk is dark.
May you always hear
Even in hours of sorrow
The gentle singing of the lark
When times are hard may hardness
Never turn your heart to stone
May you always remember
When the shadows fall
You do not walk alone
Love Always
There are many sides to my dad, I remember him giving me peanut butter cups as a parting gift when I was around 3, I remember the time he drove through to see me when I was 16 and I remember the day he arrived at my house when my daughter was 9 months old. That was the start of our true relationship, we would spend the next 20 years getting to know each other. My dad was many things to many people.
To me he was someone I could talk to about anything, he visited us when he could, driving through in a huge RV or a cool Mustang, always a smile on his face, always a hug and an "I love you honey". In the end he kept how truly sick he was from those who loved him the most and I only wish I had more time, we all wish we had more time with him. We love all of who you were, a dad, a grandpa, a husband, an uncle, a great-uncle and a brother. You will be missed greatly by those who knew and loved you.
My you rest in peace, we love you dad.
