Donna Tveit Obituary

A beautifully loving Wife, Sister, Mother, and Grandmother; Donna Lorraine Tveit passed away on Friday, February 11th 2022, after gifting those she knew with 70 wonderful years of life. Donna was a woman possessed of a singular passion for providing and caring for others, as was in evidence when she passed peacefully in the home she made, filled with the people she loved.

Donna was born on July 26th, 1951 in Tacoma, Washington to her parents Carl and Lorraine Heenan. In 1977 Donna was working as the produce manager of the local Lucky Store when she met her future husband Mark Tveit, who was recently returned from his Military service. What began as a professional association quickly turned into a burgeoning romance, thanks in large part to Mark’s persistence. Just two years later Mark and Donna would marry, on July 28, 1979.

It could never be said that Donna did not live life the way she wanted. If you were to ask the countless friends and family known to Donna to recount stories from her life, you would undoubtedly hear anecdotes concerning the “Legendary” parties Donna and Mark were known for. Donna was the consummate hostess, and the love for life that she possessed was infectious to those around her.  People were inexorably drawn to wherever Mark and Donna were, and to anyone that you ask, they would claim that Donna was a lodestone for love, life and fun.

On March 25th, 1987 Mark and Donna’s love was made physically manifest when Donna gave birth to her beautiful daughter and best friend Allison. Over the years Donna and Allison became an inseparable duo, as Donna poured every ounce of will into instilling her daughter with all of the invaluable qualities that were intrinsic to her personality. It is without question that Donna’s greatest calling was to be a wonderfully loving and caring mother.

Donna’s greatest pride and joy was her proclivity for gardening. It is no surprise that a woman that was so full of love and compassion had the ability to make any plant grow (except for weeds, which she eliminated with ruthless efficiency).  In her free time Donna could typically be found in her yard, plying her flower beds and plants with love and attention. It could certainly be said that the beauty and detail found in the things that she cultivated were simply a reflection of Donna’s remarkable personality.

Donna is preceded in death by her mother Lorraine, her father Carl, her brother Carl Jr and brother-in-law, Rick.

Donna is survived by her husband Mark, daughter Allison (Kyle), granddaughter Olivia, sister Sharon, brother John (Sara), many nieces and nephews, as well as all of those people that she showed such selfless devotion. Donna was caring to a fault; always placing the needs of others before her own. To attempt to define the limits of how much she will be missed would be an exercise in futility.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Donna’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

No services will be held at this time, however a celebration of Donna’s life will be planned at a later date.

A special thank you to our Hospice family for the care and support they provided.
