David Taylor, 67 of Mt Vernon, Washington, passed away peacefully on September 21, 2021 at Harborview Hospital in Seattle.
Over 30 years ago Dave found his adopted home of Mt. Vernon, attracted by the natural beauty of the area. He became a fixture at his long-term residence, Mt. Vernon Manor, where he looked forward to pizza night with his good friend Peter Chipalla.
A gifted cellist, Dave earned a music scholarship to the University of Michigan. He played his cello throughout his life and loved listening to all types of music. Dave came from an artistic family and learned to appreciate arts and crafts at an early age. He became skilled in making free form line drawings that took many, many hours to create. He loved to be out of doors, hear travel stories, and see pictures from other lands.
Dave first experienced mental illness in his early 20’s, which he dealt with for the remainder of his life. Friends and family knew Dave as kind-hearted, generous and humble. He was always thinking of others and had a kind and gentle presence to share. He loved to give gifts, and his drawings and macrame are much treasured.
He was the son of Marjorie and John Taylor, formerly of Oak Park, Michigan. Dave was cherished and will be fondly remembered by his surviving family: sisters Pat Taylor and her husband Bill Batko, Susan Taylor, and brother John Joseph Taylor. Dave doted on his niece, Abby Batko-Taylor and her husband Matt Gossage and his great nephews, their sons Jonathan and Samuel.
