Cory Barnhart Obituary

Cory Barnhart passed away suddenly at his home in Snohomish, Wa., on September 24, 2020, at the age of 33.
Cory was born in Yakima, Wa., on May 29th 1987, to David & Ruth Barnhart.
He & his older sister, Nicole, loved their time spent at the cabin their Grandfather, Walter Barnhart built on Chinook Pass, their travels with Grandma & Grandpa Barnhart, and their time on Orcas Island with their father.
Cory graduated from West Valley High School in 2005, where he participated in band, German Club, JROTC, & the football team. As a contestant in the Mr. West Valley Pageant in his Senior year, his rendition of "I Feel Pretty", will live on forever on Youtube.
After high school, Cory went to Ft. Simcoe Job Corps, where he trained to be a surveyor. After working at Hanford for a couple of years, he moved to Maui to attend college. While there, he joined the Nā Kai 'Ewalu Canoe Club, where he participated in several island to island races. He loved being out in the ocean, seeing  whales, dolphins, & sea turtles while paddling. He returned home to Washington shortly before his father's passing in 2012.
Cory was an awesome uncle to Odin & Rhiannon, and loved his time with them. Friends have described Cory as their favorite person, and best friend. Anyone who ever got one of his big teddy bear hugs, will miss them a lot.
Cory was a metalhead and enjoyed concerts. He was an lifelong gamer (Final Fantasy) and reader, and a student of philosophy. Two copies of Seneca's "On the Shortness of Life" were found in his belongings. 'The majority of mortals complain bitterly of the spitefulness of Nature, because we are born for a brief span of life, because even this space that has been granted to us rushes by so speedily and so swiftly that all save a very few find life at an end just when they are getting ready to live,' it opens. Cory lived as fast as he wanted.
Cory was preceded in death by his father, David Barnhart, cousin, Lauren Hatfield, Uncle Doug Hatfield, his Grandma Pauline & Grandpa Walter Barnhart, and Grandma Virginia Hatfield. He is survived by his mother, Ruth Barnhart, elder sister Nicole & brother-in-law and friend CJ Dobbins, and their children Odin & Rhiannon Dobbins, Grandpa Larry Hatfield, Uncle Bryan Barnhart, Aunt Cristi (Rick) Burgess, cousin Morgan (Jason) Tennant, Gwen & Jake Tennant, cousin Jarrod Bates, cousin Matt (Jen) Hatfield, and the many friends who became family.
There will be no public service, but a day of music for family and friends will be held at a later date, surrounded by his father's woodcarvings.
