Carolyn Renee (Lietz) Scharpenberg, of Renton, WA, passed away on September 24, 2025, at the age of 62. She was born on December 18, 1962, in Torrance, California, and she was the beloved daughter of Carole (Babcock) Huff and Clarence (Ron) Lietz.
Carolyn was a devoted mother and grandmother. Nothing brought her more joy than to be with her family. Carolyn spent the majority of her career as a job placement recruiter where she was known as “Care Bear” as she was so kind and patient and nurturing to all whoever worked with her. Carolyn was also known for her contagious laugh that filled the room and made everyone laugh and smile along with her. Her joyfulness and infectious excitement swept up everyone around her. She was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Renton, WA.
Survivors are her mother, Carole Huff and Pat of Muldrow, OK; her daughter, Allison Warren and spouse Daniel Billingham of Tacoma, WA; her granddaughter, Hazel Warren of Tacoma, WA; two sisters, Veronica Lane of Van Buren, AR, and Barbara Fortune of Brea, CA; her nephew, Bradley Oglevie and Emily of Jonesboro, AR; her niece; Bridget Fortune of Brea, CA; and great niece, Catherine Oglevie of Jonesboro, AR.
She was preceded in death by her son, William Gary Warren; her father, Clarence (Ron) Lietz; her stepfather, Gary L. Leachman.
A Funeral Mass to honor Carolyn’s life will be held on Friday, October 10, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 1123 North J Street, Tacoma, WA. Her burial will follow the Funeral Mass at the Old Tacoma Cemetery at 4801 S. Tacoma Way, Tacoma, WA.
Active Pallbearers include Daniel Billingham, Bradley Oglevie, Bridget Fortune, Thomas Babcock, Sarah Brady, and Eddie Brady.
Visitation and viewing will be held from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. followed by a Rosary on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at Scanlin Cremation & Burial, 2021 70th Ave W, University Place, WA.
Carolyn Renee Scharpenberg will be profoundly missed and lovingly remembered for her true kindness to others and for the joy and happiness she brought to so many.
