Caroline Elizabeth John of Longbranch, WA, passed away on November 24, 2022, at the age of 33, after a brief battle with ovarian cancer. She was born in Englewood, CO on December 30, 1988, and was raised in Lakewood, CO.
She graduated from the University of Colorado – Boulder in May 2010, with a bachelor’s degree in Integrative Physiology, a 4-year degree that she completed in 3 years. Being one who loved travel and adventure, she began traveling while in college, spending two months solo in Europe. After graduating, she chose Seattle as her next home, where she knew no one, traveling there with her furry companion, Bad Dog. She always enjoyed baking, so she decided to enter the culinary world at Seattle Central Community College, earning an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Specialty Desserts and Breads in June 2014. Ever the overachiever, she also finished that degree early.
While working in the culinary world, she met the love of her life, Joseph Cretella, whom she married in 2020. Their love of travel took them to San Francisco, then back to Denver, but not before road-tripping through the southern states and east coast. Denver brought a new career in the world of marketing tech support. Caroline was a fantastic gardener and the queen of indoor plants. She also loved snowboarding and archery.
Caroline is survived by husband, Joseph Cretella, Longbranch, WA; parents, Stanley and Evelyn John; sister, Kelly John, all of Lakewood, CO; and many other family and friends. Her brother Kevin preceded her in death. Although she leaves a hole in our hearts and lives, we are so glad she touched each one of us with her playfulness, love and caring.
A celebration of life will be held in Denver, CO next spring. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance. https://ocrahope.org/ ; the Denver Botanic Gardens, https://www.botanicgardens.org/ , 909 York St., Denver, CO 80206; or a charity of your choice.
