Beverly Stumpf Lavy Obituary

Our mother, Beverly Stumpf Lavy, passed away on the evening of March 6th, 2025. After many years of cardiac issues and trips to the hospital (she was on a first name basis with most medical professionals in Olympia and Seattle!), it was a blessing that her transition was seemingly quick and peaceful.

Beverly was born and raised in Ohio, the oldest of four children to George and Alta Stumpf. She excelled in school and graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Education from Ohio State and a Master's degree in Counseling from Wright State. She had a sharp mind coupled with a stubborn streak and a restless soul, which led to her frequent moves around Ohio and eventually out to the west coast. After years working as a high school teacher and then counselor, she went back to law school at age 47 to achieve her dream of becoming a lawyer.

She had a generous spirit and her favorite past time was sending cards and gifts to her family and friends. If she ever met you, you would have been added to her list. She loved learning and always encouraged her children and grandchildren to do the same and pursue their dreams. "Old Mama", as the grandkids affectionately called her, loved to play games, watch college football and make small wagers with anyone who would indulge her. Her smile, laugh and jolly spirit will be missed by us all.

As we prayed over mom after her passing, a beam of light broke through the overcast sky and shone down upon her face and body. After years of proclaiming that she would be taken up in the rapture, we know that she was happy to see the pearly gates and be welcomed into Heaven. She is preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Charles Stumpf. She is survived by her brother Mike (Cathy) Stumpf of Johnstown, OH, her sister Sharon Lynn (Jerry) Shanks of Pickerington, OH, her daughters Debra (Jason) Barker of Olympia, WA, and Dawn (John) Hendricks of Camas, WA, and her son Eric (Louisa) Lavy of Post Falls, ID, as well as her grandchildren Beau, Alta, Johnny, Della, Soluna, George, Oliver, Parker, Blake, Taylor and five great grandchildren.
