Arthur Howard Hammond died in hospice December 30 2024. He was born March 26,1954,in Seattle, adopted, returned, fostered then adopted at age 4 by Robert and Juanita Hammond in Madison Valley.
Arthur attended JJ McGilvra Elementary, Meany Junior High, and Nathan Hale High School. As a child he worshipped COGIC with
Rev.Otis Brown,Sr and Pastor Claudell Warren.
Arthur was always thin, kind, humble, patient,forgiving ,soft spoken,with a warm smile. He loved football and music, and played keyboards voluntarily with local bands, including a memorable rendition of Under the Boardwalk, and Rock Steady. Last band,Beat Street Players, was led by Louis St.Cyr.
Arthur adored cats. His most precious cat was Keyboards.
He lived his adult life in downtown apartments. A true Seattle lite, Arthur biked, took a bus or walked until he was unable.
Though a smoker at a young age, his lungs were unknowingly burned/ scarred by a janitor job chemical spill/cleanup.
Predeceased by father Robert Hammond, mother Juanita Hammond, brother-in-law Albert and treasured childhood friends Russell, and guitarist, Richard Hartfield.
Survived by his dear friend of 40 years, Barbara (Arthur walked her dog Molly everyday), loving stepmother Janet Hammond,sister Beverly, niece Beverly, nephew Albert II, great niece Chiarra, great nephew Johnny, cherished childhood friends Allan, and Jeff.
Gratitude to all who helped Arthur throughout his life, Plymouth Housing, Harborview, Providence Medical Services, Queen Ann Healthcare, to all who prayed daily for a gentle peaceful transition and to Scanlin Cremation and Burial.
